It just so happens that winter is my favourite time of year - and now it’s my favourite seasonally themed band. I don’t recall the winter of 1982 however, but maybe that has something to do with the fact that I wasn’t actually alive during the winter of 1982. I have been informed it was an incredibly cold time for all of those involved in the christmassy celebrations of that year, though.
Winter 1982 (as a band now, not a season) are an alt-folk duo that hail from the (not so) sunny Birmingham (yay Midlands!) and have been producing a number of songs that are going to be released 1 by 1. The current single released by the band is called “Sometimes”, which showcases a pool of mixed emotions in the space of 3:48 through the cleverly written lyrics and juxtaposition of moods at the start of the song to the ending. The song is dramatic and reminds me of a typical Ray Lamontagne song. The vocals in “Sometimes” are very soft, husky and full of emotion mixed with powerful instrumentals you’d expect to hear on a Goo Goo Dolls track.

The band’s song Friend was played on BBC Introducing towards the end of 2014, so, if BBC said they’re good and i’ve said they’re good, then they must be worth your time and investment, no!?
