Ivy & Gold | Welcome To The Musicshpere
As everyone knows - or should know - by now, I love delving into the metaphorical backstreets of Soundcloud, Youtube, Facebook and Twitter in the vain hope that I make a golden discovery. My discoveries, however, don't quite search for actual gold (although I really should start looking that up...) but, instead, musical gold.
Last year, I had a few of these "musical gold" moments, albeit I was a little slow in showing off my searching abilities and never actually blogged about them but, it is 2015 and I felt that this was the year when I needed to work on my blog more and stop being so selfish in keeping the knowledge of musical gold to myself. So, here comes my first post of 2015 (and I hope not one of my last) and this time, I am introducing you to the incredible sounds of Ivy & Gold. Coincidentally, that is actually the name of the musical duo and was A) not added by me & B) not actually played upon like usual. But hey, their music is gold so it kind of fits.
The duo consists of Rachel Wilkinson and Jamie Davis and are from Hertfordshire. They work from their bedroom studio and create such an excellent finished product. Although, when you possess the individual talents like these two, it's not really a surprise that, when combined, you get something amazing.
Ivy & Gold released their most recent EP "Smoke & Mirrors" in the September of 2014 and, from what it seems, are slowly making their way into the big, bad and slightly difficult world that is the music industry. Rachel's vocals heavily remind me of Foxes & Sia - but in whole, their music reminds me of The Hurts, Florence & The Machine and London Grammar. If you like your music in the way that I like my cocktails; excellent in taste but with that little bit of a twist, then Ivy & Gold is for you. The sound is unique, impactful and pop-fully electronic. I can see these going a long way but, for now, enjoy their music and the cheap EP prices.
