The funny thing about this discovery is that I didn't actually have the intention of making one. How funny is that? You log onto the computer on a Saturday morning, quite simply to pass the time whilst your sports loving father hogs the TV with all the sports channels possible, you switch through Facebook, Twitter, SNL's Youtube Account, back to Facebook, Twitter, realise you've not even thought to look at Instagram, you then make a quick pit-stop on your blog to admire how it looks for a brief
It's true. I mean, of course it's true. You know it's true. There's a blog post to prove it.
Ren is the new musical venture from singer/songwriter and guitarist Conor Owen, who, as he puts it, is a Scouse tinker with a Cockney accent who travels around in his beloved van, Penelope Sunshine. He is influenced by folk and alt folk musicians such as James Taylor, Foy Vance and The Staves and brings his musical influences and own talents (just listen to him play the guitar - mesmerising) together to create the most pure and stunning of songs.
The above song, My Heart Belongs to Ireland, was released in the March of this year and was well received by radio stations including the BBC and Amazing Radio. I love how it starts off stripped back, but then it becomes layered with violins, percussion and drums.
His second single, Coasts, was released two days ago on October 7th and it's just as beautiful than My Heart Belongs to Ireland - if not even more so...
As I mentioned earlier, he is a very talented guitarist - and songwriter whilst we're praising his skills - who has created two genuinely beautiful songs. I can't wait to hear more from him and see where he goes!
