As is only custom, I've been meaning to blog about Tape Loops Collected for a considerably long time. I have run out of excuses as to why it takes me so long to get something out, so I'm going to say this; alongside me having a full time job, I want to ensure I only bring the best music to the forefront of your earbuds. I refuse to blog about anyone and anything so, with that, may not have discovered something for a while. It's a slowly-slowly-catchy-monkey type situation over at Liquid Entertainment. If I could do this for my full time job trust me, I would in a heartbeat. The sad thing is I can't, but anyway, now that I've got that off my chest, I can continue.
I've been in talks with Dave S, a composer for the band, for quite a few months whilst they have been setting up their website, loading music to iTunes and Soundcloud plus an assortment of other things new bands do but ladies and gentlemen, the time has come for your cultural knowledge to expand... but, before I continue, I need to just say something. It's verrrrry very minor and won't take up a paragraph of your time (although I could very easily make it so)... So, my warning...
They are amazing. And I mean seriously amazing.
That was it by the way. Nothing else. Ok, I'll continue.
In the email I received from Dave S all those months ago (literally months ago, oops), he described the band as being "a mixture of DJ Shadow/Electric Youth/Beach House... and errr... maybe Adele", which is quite an assortment. I don't know if I would go so far to add Adele in there, but Tape Loops Collected are just as mesmerising.
I think the band have great harmonies and have done a marvellous job in merging the Indian folk sounds with the electronic aspect of their music, which has helped to create their first album, Two Voices Calling Out Across The Void. The album is powerful in sound, yet relaxing in practice. To me, I'm definitely reminded of Beachhouse with the vocals - especially of Louella - but also The Hurts when it comes to the overall finish of each individual song. My favourite, by far, would have to be 'Take Me To The Sea'.
Don't just take my word for how good they are, listen to their songs below...
They also have a cover of Amazing Grace in the works, too! I'm trying to imaging the concoction of this and I can't. I'm excited.
If you'd like to check them out then you can do so by clicking the links below
P.s I so wasn't their first follower on Facebook, Twitter and Soundcloud... Talk about the early bird getting the worm, an' all!
