You know sometimes - and just sometimes - you look at a book. A CD cover. Person. And have this idea come to mind as to what the book may be about, what the music style on the CD is or how a person could be and, in that moment, you never expected that you could be so far from the truth. Looking at George Cosby I thought that he would be this quirky indie kid equipped with his guitar and soft, folky voice. How wrong I was.
His voice is strong, powerful and emotive. It has an old soul element to it that reminds me of Elvis Presley and I absolutely love it.
The above song, Ritual Blush, was the lead track on his debut EP, which was released in 2015 and received much critical acclaim from bloggers, BBC Radio 1, Burberry - and even had over 1 million plays on Spotify - all within the space of 2 months. Impressive.
This recording of Vacant Grace, performed for Mahogany Sessions, is absolutely stunning. I know I'm repeating myself here, but his voice really is something unexpected. But in all the best ways possible.
