AQUILO | You There | Song Review

Aquilo - You There

Well, hello, you there. That’s right, Aquilo. You over there. I just thought i’d put it out there (it has been noted that the words “out” and “there” have already been overused within the first two sentences of this post), but Aquilo’s new (okay, so it’s now been two weeks …) song “You There” is something everyones ears must become exposed to at least once in their lifetime.

It’s not like i’ve listened to it at least 10 times in the space of its release date and now, or anything.

Aquilo compromises of two northern males, Tom Higham and Ben Fletcher, who have so effortlessly managed to create the male vocal version of London Grammar - whilst also channeling a bit of a James Blake and fleet foxes vibe also - amongst their song(s).

This song is going to take you away to somewhere you’ve never been, a place you’ve always wanted to go, or somewhere in your mind you’ve been to and want to revisit. All you have to do is close your eyes and let the vocals and sound take you away to that hypothetical location you are actually about to visit in 5…4…3…tw-oh there’s no point in counting, just play it.

So, you see what I mean by effortless. It’s breathtaking and stopped me in my tracks when I first heard it. It’s the kind of song that, to some, could be used in a dramatic Made In Chelsea scene where Louise is typically sitting in a black cab post-crying-phase-number-100 (and about to cry again) or, to others, it’s the song you go and download now to your MP3’s.

Get their EP on pre-order now whilst it’s £1.79. £1.79 folks. I can only presume that the price will rise, but for now maybe you can have your own dramatic Made In Chelsea scene with a price like that!

To keep track of their tracks follow them on
